Congratulations to David Weil, Ph.D., winner of the Father Edward F. Boyle Award at the 2017 CGA. David Weil is Dean and Professor at Brandeis University’s Heller School for Social Policy & Management. In the words of MIT Sloan School Professor Tom Kochan, “David Weil has served our community, indeed our nation, with distinction for many years.”
Before starting at Brandeis, David Weil performed this service as the Wexler Professor of Management at Boston University’s Questrom School of Businessas, as the Wage and Hour Administrator in the US Department of Labor, and as the co-founder and co-directer of the Transparency Policy Project at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. David Weil is also a prodigious writer: he recently released a book called The Fissured Workplace: Why Work Became So Bad for So Many and What Can Be Done to Improve It.
Addressing the audience at the CGA awards dinner, David said the following:
“The aspirations that mark this evening and characterize the work that so many of you do in labor, management, government, academia, and as neutrals is sadly under fire now. […] Receiving this award honoring Fr. Boyle and his legacy reminds me of the importance of never giving up those aspirations.”
