A Labor Guild Teaching Testimonial
The Guild is very fortunate to have world-class staff from all walks of life and many parts of the country, some of whom have taught for more than a decade. We recently received a letter from a retired International Representative of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) and former educator at the Labor Guild, who began teaching for us in the late 1980s.
In this letter, he reflected on his time teaching at the Guild and how much it mattered to him. He wrote:
“Not too long after leaving my position with IBEW Local 455 to join the IBEW 2nd District Staff as an International Representative in 1988, our friend- the late Father Ed (Boyle)- asked me if I would be willing to teach a class on Union Governance at the Guild’s School of Labor Management Relations. Later on I also taught classes on Advanced Steward Training as a follow-up to the Basic Steward Training Class. I am thankful for the opportunity to have done that. Not only did I get significant personal satisfaction from doing it, but also, as is so often the case with labor education, I learned as much from the students as I was able to impart to them.”
We are so grateful to our faculty and members who make our work possible and help us to accomplish our mission. We are excited to see more testimonials like these in the future!
