Memorial for Arbitrator Marcia Greenbaum

National Academy of Arbitrators, New England Chapter

Thursday, February 18, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., by Zoom Videoconference

The New England Chapter of the National Academy of Arbitrators is saddened by the sudden, untimely passing of our friend and colleague, Arbitrator/Mediator Marcia Greenbaum of Essex, Massachusetts. Marcia passed away from COVID-19, on January 19. She was the first woman arbitrator in New England and only the sixth to be admitted to the National Academy of Arbitrators. She was known for her skill in resolving the most complex labor disputes. She was also dedicated to the labor relations community and was a frequent speaker on labor topics. She was a mentor to many in her long career.

To commemorate Marcia, we will have a combined educational program and memorial on Thursday, February 18th, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. MIT Professor Robert McKersie will host. Arbitrator Kathryn VanDagens, an NAA Board member from Michigan, will present a short program on the history of women in labor arbitration. This will be followed by a remembrance of Marcia.

In addition to our NAA New England members, we will be inviting Marcia’s family and close friends, the general NAA membership, and her New England friends and colleagues from her distinguished career. Marcia is remembered for her generosity of spirit, as well as her professionalism. If you would like to share a story about Marcia in the remembrance portion of the program, please email the New England NAA Chapter co-chairs, Sheila Mayberry, sgmayberry@gmail.com, or Bonnie McSpiritt, bjmcspiritt@comcast.net. We will attempt to accommodate as many speakers as possible.
