Memorial Day 2014: Honoring All Who Served In Practical Ways. Sen. Bernie Sanders puts it best.

Please take a special moment to remember all our Guilders (living and passed on) who served in the military or are actively serving today — and all those who love them.

Washington needs give the Veterans Administration the right level of funding and resources it reasonably needs to properly fulfill and effectively manage its mission.  That goes for other US Government agencies that deal with our military veterans as well. The cost of war is real. Honor the country’s commitment to those we send to war.

WOLF BLITZER: One final question, senator. ….(T)here are some oh who are worried about the cost of these expanded benefits for U.S. military veterans, health benefits, education benefits, social service benefits, all sorts of other benefits. And they say the country can’t afford that right now, to which your reply is?

SEN. BERNIE SANDERS: If you can’t afford to take care of your veterans, then don’t go to war. These people are bearing the brunt of what war is about. We have a moral obligation to support them.

BLITZER: Simple answer to the point. Senator, thanks very much for coming in.
